Canon Fodder
From: Marc Thomas
Hi Trek TV Friends, I had a girlfriend once, really! Well, I'm perty sure, I get brain douched after each failed booty call so I can't be sure but I seem to recall that when I told her about an episode of Star Trek, and explained to her that this episode of Star Trek opens with Abraham Lincoln in Space, she simply didn't believe me. She assumed it was one of my truth enhancers, or in laymen terminology lies. Weeks later, I was enjoying an afternoon of UHF syndicated fare when "The Savage Curtain" commenced to beam straight outa my cathode ray tube. I called her up "Turn on Channel 44, HURRY!" She did, she saw, and to this day can't quite believe it. Along with Honest Abe this episode introduces us to Sarek, Col. Green and the Kilngon hero Kay-Less. Although, lets face it, Mr K appears to be less a valiant warrior than middling talent impressionist. Apparently, hacky stand-up comedy schtick was highly revered on Kronos. But what about poor Zora? Does her character ever gets a curtain call? No? How savage. Her evil was perpetrated against the population of Tiburon. Hey, brother, that planet was mentioned in "Way to Eden" the name means Shark in espanol. Does any body else think that the Evil Lava Monster seen here and The Horta would make a cute couple? Me Neither. In a way this is the last real Star Trek episode because it is Nichelle Nichols' last. Emotecon smile upside down. Nice to hear, that Brycecakes is back from the fuckdungeon. I guess Collette is still there. Cleaning up? Once last word about franchises influencing each other… Naturally Star Wars copped aplenty from Star Trek, but what Lucas was really calling back to were the Buster Crabbe Flash Gordon Serials from the 1930's. I had an infuriating brush with irony one day when Little Master Green was watching a spoof of the 2009 Trek Movie on the cartoon networks version of MAD magazine. The recurring joke was that Star Trek is nothing but a big Star Wars Rip-Off. My poor little nephew suffered the resultant spree of nurdbitching from me with grace and maturity. Nice to hear Chris on the cast again Your obedient seviette
