Holiday
From: Colin H
Well pull up a chair and I'll start the slide show. Florida was fantastic, I went to Universal for Harry Potter amongst other things. Sea world which was entertaining and educational which seems to be there credo. Disney of course, Coco and Clearwater beach. Citywalk, rode a host of rollercoasters and rides, got wet from the water rides which was a welcome relief from the 97f heat and massive humidity. I mean I'm English I'm not evolved for this. If I stepped away from aircon I turned into a puddle. I must have drank four litres of liquid a day, I say liquid as it was not all water. But the highlight for me was NASA. I was on a pilgrimage. We had the VIP tour so got to see the launch pads up close and personnel, the command centre, landing strip and so on. Then we had dinner with an astronaut and I sat there with a grin like the chesire cat ( Alice in wonderland), listening to his talk about his three shuttle missions and his path to NASA. This was followed by a Q and A session, which was interesting and yes I got to ask a question and have my photo with him after. Oh and I tried my first corn dog. We also went to the display site where a real Saturn five rocket is housed along with a moon rock, buggy and so on, which I am sure Tracy is familiar with. I spent a bucket of money buying NASA stuff and could easily have spent more. Then we did the shuttle take off experience which rattled your bones and rounded off the day with a visit to the astronaut museum. But of course while at NASA I partook of the Star Trek exhibition. There I sat in Picard, Kirks and Changs chair. Took in a scorpion fighter, Data's head, Borg head and a full size Borg model. Various uniforms ranging from Star Trek the motion picture, tng, ds9, Klingon and Ferengi. There was also a host of models weapons tricorders and Bajoran instruments. The guardian of forever and last but not least a complete replica of the TOS bridge. I totally had a major geek day and took a load of pictures. All in all a great holiday and no significant jet lag.
